On Saturday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdel Atti had a meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York.
Abdel Atti discussed with his Chinese counterpart the issue of River Nile, the Renaissance Dam of Ethiopia. The Egyptian minister asserted to the Chinese minister that the issue of River Nile is essential to Egypt, and it is directly linked to Egypt's national security.
He asserted Egypt's rejection of any individual acts that harm the benefits of the countries of the Nile's influx, and violates the values of the law of international water resources.
According to a statement of the Foreign Ministry, Abdel Atti sent President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's greetings to the Chinese minister who exchanged President El Sisi's greetings with the greetings of China's President Xi Jinping.
Both ministers expressed their satisfaction for the continued development in mutual relations between two countries on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of upgrading the ties between two countries to strategic partnership, including organizing various political, economic, cultural, trade, and tourism events.
On his side, Abdel Atti hailed the joint projects between both countries like the Chinese corporations work in the New Administrative Capital, Al Alamin towers, and Capital's train. In addition, Egypt is keen to enhance the Chinese corporations to continue their presence in Egypt, and their investments, especially in the economic zone of Suez Canal, and strategic fields of Egypt like energy, and technology.
Both ministers agreed upon continuing the work to enhance economic cooperation, increase investments, trade exchange, and industry.
On his side, the Chinese minister praised Egypt's vital role in international, and regional scene, in addition to its role in multi-parties institutions, especially after its participation in the initiative launched by China, and Brazil to settle the Ukrainian issue.
He also asserted the importance of Egypt role in the Middle East, Arab world, Islamic countries, and Africa.
Abdel Atti praised the Chinese stand in the issue of Palestine, and discussing the major threatening developments of the war in Gaza, and Israeli military strikes on Lebanon.
The Egyptian minister also asserted the importance of the UN Security Council to perform its responsibility, and take necessary measures to stop the war in Gaza, ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon, and prevent the region to slip into regional war.
Finally, both ministers agreed upon continuing the coordination and communication, and coordination in all common interest issues.
