Egyptian Authorities Deport German-Egyptian ISIS Suspect

CAIRO, Jan. 12 (SEE)- Egyptian Authorities deported on Friday morning Mahmoud Amr Ezzat over accusation on joining ISIS terrorist group in Sinai.

The state media news agency ‘MENA’ said that Ezzat was arrested as soon as he arrived to Cairo International Airport from Saudi Arabia.

Authorities declared that the suspect was released post confirming that he had not committed any crimes as per the Egyptian law and agreeing to give up his Egyptian nationality. The expulsion was carried out in accordance with the German Embassy.

Ezzat is a 24-year-old German of Egyptian origin, who attends Saudi Arabia’s Islamic University. 

In another context, MENA reported that authorities arrested 19-year-old Eissa Ibraheem El-Sabagh, upon arriving at Luxor International Airport from Germany with maps related to North Sinai in his possession. 

Through investigations, El-Sabagh was found to be electronically linked to ISIS members in Germany in addition to being convinced with their beliefs. As per authorities, he was on a mission to join terrorist elements in Sinai. 

MENA affirmed that El-Sabagh’s deporting papers have been finalized. 

El-Sabagh is not recognized a national by the Egyptian government, as he was a minor when his father was granted the German nationality after giving up his Egyptian nationality in 2007.
