Egyptian Mosab Rayhan did not imagine that an idea that came to his mind 3 years ago would be the reason for transforming the streets of Port Said into an open museum full of graffiti.

3 years ago, Rayhan decided to change the decor of the entrance of his apartment by drawing on the wall instead of traditional paints.

He wanted to beautify the entrance to the house, thanks for the admiration of people, he pursued the graffiti career to start his project in beautifying the streets of Port Said.

First Egyptian Graffiti Artist

He added: I started painting 13 years ago when I started drawing on paper using charcoal, lead, and then colours.

"I did not dare to paint on large areas such as walls, until 3 years ago till I decided to decorate the walls adjacent to the door of the family’s residence by drawing Ramadan lanterns, which impressed my family."

He continued: "After decorating the walls of the house, I decided to professionalize in graffiti, although it is an art that is not common in Egypt."

The graffiti has only spread after the January revolution, although it is a global art and is used to decorate buildings, especially random ones in many capitals of the world.

The artist revealed that he agreed with many shops and buildings' owners in Port Said to decorate their walls for free, provided that he will take care of the expenses of materials in exchange for being allowed to draw.

The artist dreamed of spreading the art of graffiti in Egypt, and educating the people that it can be used to on many occasions.
