Egyptian academic Dr. Salah Hashim has been invited by the United Nations General Assembly to participate in the Second International Migration Review Forum, scheduled for May 5–8, 2026, at UN headquarters in New York.
Hashem, dean of the Faculty of Social Work at Fayoum University and a development planning professor, is set to deliver remarks during a multi-stakeholder hearing on migration policies. His address will highlight Egypt’s efforts to combat irregular migration, initiatives to support migrant and refugee integration, and the role of civil society in promoting dignified living conditions.
The forum will convene member states, international organizations and civil society through interactive roundtables to assess progress in implementing the Global Compact for Migration. The final sessions will review achievements and outline next steps toward safe, orderly and regular migration aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
The forum follows a UN-mandated process launched in 2016 and first convened in 2022.
