EgyptAir is ramping up preparations for the Hajj season, planning hundreds of flights to transport pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, its chairman said.
Mohamed Alyan said the airline considers Hajj one of its most critical operational periods, with early planning focused on ticketing logistics, passenger handling and travel coordination.
EgyptAir is scheduled to operate around 297 outbound flights, including 152 to Jeddah and 145 to Medina. Return flights are expected to total about 327, with 218 from Jeddah and 109 from Medina.
The airline aims to transport approximately 58,000 passengers this season, including pilgrims from state lotteries, social solidarity programmes, tourism agencies, as well as transit and special flights.
A new “Hajj Without Baggage” initiative will also be introduced in coordination with Saudi authorities, allowing luggage to be transported separately and delivered directly to pilgrims’ accommodation.
Under the system, passenger and baggage data will be transmitted in advance to ground service agents in Saudi Arabia, enabling luggage to be sorted and delivered upon arrival. On return journeys, bags will be collected from hotels and shipped directly to aircraft, allowing pilgrims to retrieve them upon arrival in Cairo.
