The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation declared on Thursday that EgyptAir had become the first airline in Africa to have an Airbus A321neo in its fleet.

The new aircraft from Hamburg, Germany, arrived at Cairo International Airport, said the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

A delegation from EgyptAir and civil aviation minister Mohamed Abbas were present at the airport for the delivery ceremony.

The A321neo, the first of seven aircraft that will be delivered to Egypt in accordance with an agreement with Airbus, arrived, and Abbas expressed his satisfaction with its arrival.

The remaining six planes will be delivered in accordance with that during 2023, he continued.

Abbas asserts that Airbus is essential to the national airline of Egypt's fleet modernization.

According to him, EgyptAir and Airbus have been working together since 1982.

The A321neo, the longest-fuselage member of Airbus' best-selling, single-aisle A320 Family, can accommodate up to 244 people in a higher-density configuration and comfortably seats 180 to 220 passengers in a standard two-class interior layout.
