EgyptAir Concludes Pilgrimage Flights to KSA

EgyptAir operates on Monday 23 flights carrying 4400 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, concluding its pilgrimage flights to KSA.

12 of those flights will head to Jeddah carrying 2300 pilgrims and 11 flights will head to Madinah carrying 2100 people to perform Hajj rituals on Thursday، sources at Cairo International Airport said.

The first return flight was scheduled for August 14.

The pilgrimage to Mecca, or hajj, is one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is a religious duty for all Muslims to perform at least once in their lives if they can afford it.

The hajj season is expected to start on 9 August 2019 according to the Islamic lunar calendar.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) announced that a total of 745,472 pilgrims have reached Medina so far from all over the world.

It is noteworthy that the performance of the Hajj awaits millions of Muslims from around the world, so Saudi Arabia made its preparations for the success of the Hajj season this year to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The Kingdom has adopted many measures in all fields to serve Muslim visitors.

These preparations included the provision of 19,000 buses to transport nearly 2 million pilgrims from the Saudi General Cars Syndicate (GCS). According to the Kingdom’s “2020 Vision”, the General Authority of Customs and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah are cooperating in providing a comfortable stay for visitors by transporting pilgrims’ luggage from the Hajj and Umrah halls from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to their residences.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah supervises and follows up on all the services provided to the pilgrims, starting with receiving them, housing them, and meeting their needs in Mecca, Medina, and the holy places.
