The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on Friday that five Royal Jordanian flights were diverted to Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport due to the temporary closure of airspace in the region. The diverted flights arrived at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport earlier this morning, with all departing on their scheduled routes after the diversion.
The Ministry confirmed that all necessary operational and precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Appropriate support was provided in line with international aviation safety standards.
In a related update, EgyptAir announced the cancellation of several flights scheduled for today. Flights to Erbil, Baghdad, Amman, and Beirut were canceled until the airspace is reopened and flight operations resume. The airline emphasized its commitment to passenger safety and will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
The temporary airspace closure has caused disruptions, but authorities are working to resolve the situation and ensure the continued safety of air travel in the region.
