On Saturday, EgyptAir announced the resumption of direct flights between Cairo and Toronto starting from next Tuesday after the Canadian government’s decision to remove Egypt and nine other African countries from its travel ban list over COVID-19’s Omicron variant.
On EgyptAir’s website, travelers choosing a direct flight from Cairo to Toronto are required to submit COVID-19 information to enter Canada, including providing a quarantine plan. They are told to download the ArrivaCAN mobile application to submit the information before traveling.
In late November, Canada imposed a travel ban on ten African countries, including Egypt, due to concerns about the COVID-19 Omicron variant, prompting EgyptAir to suspend all direct flights between Cairo and Toronto.
On Friday, Canadian Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos told a press conference in Ottawa that the travel ban imposed on the 10 African countries would be lifted effective 18 December at 11:59 p.m. ET.
