Egypt & Zimbabwe Discuss Agricultural Cooperation

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today welcomed Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Ittihadiya Palace in Egypt. 

The visit marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations.

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, stated that both leaders praised the ongoing development in the cooperative relations between the two countries. 

They expressed a commitment to enhancing mechanisms and frameworks to further expand these relations, particularly in developmental cooperation areas.

A key focus of the discussions was the importance of advancing collaboration in agriculture and agro-industrial projects. 

Both presidents agreed on maximizing the benefits from livestock and fisheries to enhance value addition and ensure food security for both nations. 

They also discussed cooperation in various infrastructure sectors, creating joint developmental opportunities.

President Mnangagwa commended the noticeable developmental progress he witnessed in Egypt, highlighting a desire for Zimbabwe to benefit from Egypt's experience in this field.

The meeting also covered ways to bolster joint African action, especially as Egypt currently hosts the third Intra-African Trade Fair. 

The leaders underscored the need to intensify African efforts to make the continent's economies more resilient to global shocks. 

They emphasized the pivotal role of expanding intra-African trade to fully leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area and promote comprehensive development across the continent.
