Egypt Wins UNWTO Regional Office for Middle East Presidency

Egypt won the presidency of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) regional office for the Middle East. The elections were organized during the 47th meeting of the committee at Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Thursday.

During the session, Egypt was selected to host the 48th meeting of the committee in 2022.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El Anani thanked all state members for voting for Egypt, asserting that the state will do its best for helping Middle Eastern countries getting their tourist flow back, in addition to providing the best environment of communication between all members.

During his speech in the opening session, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili mentioned that Egypt was the destination of his first trip abroad after Europe’s lifting of travel restrictions.

He also hailed the procedures and the safety measures taken by Egypt in the tourist sector to resume the tourist activity.

UNWTO Secretary-General praised the latest Pharaohs' Golden Parade organized by Egypt and its National Museum for Egyptian Civilization where the royal mummies are now displayed.

Moreover, he invited the world to visit Egypt and enjoy its beautiful beaches, magnificent landscapes, and epic civilization.
