Dr. Saber Soliman, Assistant Minister for Institutional Development and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs participated in the meeting of the third committee on Social Policies, Poverty and Gender held at Headquarters in Addis Ababa on November 14-15, 2019.
In this context, Egypt won the presidency of the UN Committee on Social Policies and Poverty, on behalf of the African continent, for two years (2020-2021), for the third time in a row since the establishment of the committee in 1979.
On his part, Dr. Soliman said that this step would enhance the Egyptian leadership role in the African continent, especially in the light of Egypt’s current presidency of the African Union. It would also improve ways to support the African continent in promoting safe migration, empowering women, and providing social welfare in education, health and other fields, within the framework of achieving the goals of 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
In the same context, Dr. Soliman, also participated in the meeting of the African experts Committee to discuss reports prepared by the Social Policies Committee on the promotion of social protection and investment in social services in the African countries.
This comes within the framework of the keenness of the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs to participate in the meetings of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
