Egypt welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump on June 24, 2025, regarding a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel.

In a statement issued by Foreign Ministry, Egypt considered this a significant development toward containing the dangerous escalation witnessed in the region in recent days, adding that this step has the potential to mark a turning point toward ending the military confrontation between the two countries and restoring calm in the region.

Moreoer, Egypt affirmed that this ceasefire represents a genuine opportunity to halt the cycle of escalation and mutual attacks and to create a conducive environment for the resumption of political and diplomatic efforts, calling on both the Israeli and Iranian sides to fully adhere to the ceasefire, to exercise the utmost restraint during this sensitive period, and to take the necessary steps that contribute to de-escalation and the preservation of the region’s security, stability, and the safety of its people.

Furthermore, Egypt reiterated that it has consistently called for a ceasefire and de-escalation through its extensive direct engagements with all concerned regional and international parties, including those directly involved in the conflict, over the past weeks.

Egypt also reaffirmed its continued diplomatic efforts, in coordination with regional and international partners, to solidify the ceasefire and support a path toward de-escalation, ultimately aiming for a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the crises threatening regional stability.

The statment further reiterated that the Palestinian issue remains at the core of the regional conflict, and that a just and comprehensive resolution that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people is the only viable path to achieving lasting security and stability in the region and beyond, noting that this can only be realized through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
