Egypt Welcomes Outcomes of Vote on Electing Libyan Executive Authority

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez said on Friday Egypt welcomes the results of the vote on choosing the executive authority by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum held today in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations.

Ambassador Hafez expressed the aspiration to work with the Libyan Interim Authority during the coming period until the power is handed over to the elected government after the elections scheduled for December 24, 2021.

The spokesman also praised the efforts of the United Nations in sponsoring the political process in Libya.

He called on the Libyan brothers to continue to uphold the supreme interest of their country, as well as all international and regional parties to support this peaceful path to settle the crisis in a way that would contribute to restoring stability in Libya and leading to the cessation of foreign interference in its affairs.

The Egyptian diplomat stressed the importance of repulsing all foreign fighters and the imposition of the sovereignty of Libya on its territory.
