Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, held two separate phone calls with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India, and Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
During the conversations, Abdelatty welcomed the announcement made by India and Pakistan on May 10, 2025, regarding a ceasefire between the two countries.
He expressed Egypt’s full support for this significant step, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing dialogue over conflict.
Moreover, Abdelatty praised the wise decision taken by both sides, which contributes to de-escalation, promotes calm, and supports security and stability in South Asia.
He further stressed the importance of adhering to the ceasefire in order to build mutual trust between the two nations and to fulfill the aspirations of the Indian and Pakistani peoples for peace and development.
In response, the Indian and Pakistani Foreign Ministers (FMs) expressed their appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance and its efforts to foster calm and stability in South Asia.
They also valued the ongoing communications over the past few days and commended the strong bilateral relations that each country shares with Egypt.
