Egypt welcomed the decision of Executive Council of African Union (AU) at its 44th session held in Addis Ababa on February 14 and 15, to endorse the nomination of Dr. Khaled El-Anani, for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
In a statment, Egypt Foreign ministry considered this endorsement as a significant support for the Egyptian candidacy, especially after its approval by the Arab League Ministerial Council last year, which ensures the support of the Arab and African blocs for the Egyptian candidate.
