On Saturday, Egypt expressed deep concern about the Israeli authorities' intention to demolish a number of Palestinian Bedouin villages in the Masafer Yatta area in the occupied West Bank, and the consequential risk of displacing thousands of Palestinians from those villages, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry also affirmed its rejection of Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz's approval of building 4,000 housing units at the Israeli settlements in the West Bank, stressing that this represents a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy.

It stressed that such unilateral measures will fuel tension and lead to more violence, as well as undermining the opportunities of reaching a two-state solution and establishing a comprehensive and just peace in the region.
