In a significant bilateral meeting, Egypt's Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, met with H.E. Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, during the 9th Annual Meetings of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The discussions highlighted Uzbekistan's increasing role within AIIB and across Asia, with both ministers acknowledging the bank's potential to finance joint development projects.
Kouchouk expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for hosting the event and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties.
Moreover, both ministers discussed expanding cooperation in various sectors, including renewable energy, logistics, tourism, construction, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. There was a particular focus on sustainable practices and synergies in agriculture and water management.
The talks explored leveraging both countries' strategic locations, with Egypt serving as a gateway to Africa and Europe, while Uzbekistan provides access to Central Asian markets. Egyptian firms are expected to utilize Uzbekistan as an entry point for regional trade and investments.
Furthermore, both parties agreed to continue discussions among their extended economic cabinet members to identify joint projects and further enhance investment opportunities within the AIIB framework, aiming to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Egypt and Uzbekistan.
This partnership highlights the growing economic cooperation between North Africa and Central Asia, with a strong focus on sustainability, trade, and infrastructure development.
