Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, received a phone call from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday.
The two ministers exchanged views on the rapidly evolving developments in the Middle East.
The phone talks covered the escalating situation in northern Syria and its implications for regional security and stability.
Abdel Atty emphasized Egypt's position on the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and support for its national institutions while ensuring the protection of civilians.
The two ministers also discussed the situation in Gaza.
In this regard, FM underlined the need for intensified regional and international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire and ensure sustainable and unconditional humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
He also highlighted the outcomes of the Cairo Conference for Humanitarian Response in Gaza, held on December 2, which showcased broad international solidarity with the Palestinian people and stressed the necessity of halting Israeli obstruction of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Additionally, Abdel Atty briefed Blinken on his visit to Port Sudan on December 3, reaffirming Egypt's commitment to supporting Sudan’s national institutions, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.
He also outlined Egypt’s efforts to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery to Sudan and enable regional and international relief organizations to operate effectively amid the worsening humanitarian crisis.
