U.S. Department of State issued a statement confirming that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed partnership and enhancement of regional peace and security with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty.

Rubio emphasized the importance of close cooperation with Egypt to enhance post-war planning in the Gaza Strip.

He also praised Egypt’s mediation efforts and its role in facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

It is worth noting that Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, met on Monday, February 10, with Mike Waltz, the U.S. National Security Advisor; Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East; and Eric Treger, the Middle East and North Africa Coordinator at the National Security Council.

Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the meeting covered various aspects of the close strategic relations between Egypt and the United States and ways to support cooperation frameworks that serve mutual interests.

Abdelatty highlighted the four-decade-long strategic partnership between the two countries and its constructive cooperation in various fields.

He also expressed Egypt’s eagerness to work with the new U.S. administration to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
