A phone call took place on Friday, July 17, between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, and Steve Witkoff, U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, to follow up on the latest regional developments.
The call witnessed an exchange of views on the latest situation in the Middle East against the backdrop of the military escalation, within the framework of ongoing consultation and coordination between Egypt and the United States.
Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's support for all efforts aimed at resolving the current crisis through dialogue and diplomatic means.
Moreover, he welcomed the progress achieved through reaching the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, emphasizing the need to commit to it and for it to represent a constructive step toward reducing tensions and enhancing security and stability in the region.
For his part, U.S. Envoy praised Egypt's role in supporting endeavors aimed at achieving regional stability, as well as Cairo's efforts, in coordination with the concerned parties, to encourage dialogue and bridge viewpoints.
At the conclusion of the call, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation during the coming period to serve the interests of regional security and stability.
