Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, discussed regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation during talks in Cairo, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The meeting took place as part of ongoing consultations between Egypt and the United States on issues of mutual concern, reflecting what both sides described as the strong and growing partnership between the two countries.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf, the two officials reaffirmed the depth of Egyptian-U.S. relations and welcomed the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The discussions also built on the outcomes of a recent meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Evian, France.

Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening relations in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two countries.

Regional developments featured prominently in the talks, with Abdelatty welcoming the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. He expressed hope that the agreement would mark the beginning of a new phase of de-escalation and contribute to reducing tensions across the Middle East.

The two sides also discussed the conflict in Sudan. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to support security and stability in the neighboring country while preserving its unity, sovereignty and national institutions.

He stressed the importance of securing a humanitarian truce that could pave the way for a sustainable ceasefire and support a comprehensive political process led exclusively by the Sudanese people.

Abdelatty also called for intensified international efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and alleviate the suffering of civilians affected by the conflict.

On Libya, the Egyptian foreign minister reaffirmed Cairo's support for the country's unity, stability and territorial integrity, while emphasizing the importance of unifying state institutions and advancing a Libyan-led political process that would culminate in simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

The talks further addressed developments in the Horn of Africa, where Abdelatty underscored the importance of maintaining regional security and stability, describing the region as closely linked to Egypt's national security.

He stressed the need to support state institutions, preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries in the region and reject actions that could undermine regional stability.

The meeting also touched on Nile water issues, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of cooperation among Nile Basin countries in accordance with international law and in a manner that serves the interests of all parties.

He reiterated Egypt's rejection of unilateral actions in the Eastern Nile Basin that violate international law, stressing that the Nile River remains an existential issue for Egypt.
