Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, met with U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg, in the New Administrative Capital this week, to discuss Washington’s results-driven approach to foreign assistance to Egypt.

In a statement, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo said the talks focused on the United States’ efforts to align foreign assistance with measurable outcomes that advance U.S. national interests while supporting Egypt’s long-term economic sustainability under the America First Foreign Assistance framework.

The embassy said the United States is modernizing its foreign assistance programs to ensure greater accountability and tangible results for American taxpayers.

Ambassador Mustafa Garg emphasized that U.S. assistance to Egypt is increasingly concentrated on supporting private-sector-led growth, advancing economic reform, and expanding opportunities for U.S. businesses and workers.

As part of this approach, the Trump administration has recently committed more than $100 million in U.S. foreign assistance to Egypt to support shared priorities, including economic reform, private-sector development and regional stability, according to the statement.

“Egypt and the United States share a longstanding strategic partnership rooted in mutual interests,” Ambassador Mustafa Garg said, adding that Washington is seeking to make its assistance more focused and effective by mobilizing private investment, encouraging burden-sharing and delivering concrete results for both countries.

Since 1978, the United States has provided more than $85 billion in assistance to Egypt, with a focus on strengthening regional security, promoting economic growth and supporting market-based reforms. The embassy said U.S. assistance has prioritized initiatives aimed at enhancing stability, expanding trade and investment, and sustaining a strong security partnership between Cairo and Washington.
