Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Massad Boulos, senior adviser to the U.S. president for Arab and African affairs, to discuss developments in Libya, the foreign ministry said.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Libya's unity and stability, stressing the need to unify state institutions and reach a comprehensive political settlement through a Libyan-led process that would pave the way for simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
The minister also discussed Boulos's proposals for resolving the crisis through a Libyan-led solution, as part of ongoing U.S. efforts led by Boulos to narrow differences among Libya's rival factions, the ministry said.
Abdelatty praised the efforts of international, regional and U.N. actors, including the United States, to support Libya's long-term stability and unity and help build a better future for its people, according to the ministry.
