Egypt is working on a comprehensive plan to increase its oil and natural gas production by about 30 percent in the coming period through the adoption of advanced technologies and improved exploration methods, according to energy sector reports.

The strategy centers on using modern techniques such as horizontal drilling, artificial intelligence, and advanced seismic surveys to enhance production efficiency and improve the accuracy of resource exploration, particularly in promising petroleum regions.

Horizontal drilling is expected to boost extraction rates from existing reservoirs and extend the productive life of mature oil and gas fields. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence applications will be used to analyze geological data and improve operational decision-making, helping companies optimize field performance.

Advanced seismic survey technologies are also planned to support more precise identification of hydrocarbon reserves and guide future drilling operations.

The initiative is part of Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen domestic energy production, attract investment into the petroleum sector, and reduce reliance on imports while ensuring stable supplies for the local market.

Officials aim to maximize the value of existing resources while expanding exploration activities, positioning the oil and gas sector as a key driver of economic growth in the coming years.
