Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities and UNICEF have launched a new partnership aimed at expanding opportunities for children and young people as part of efforts to address the root causes of irregular migration.

The initiative falls under the presidential programs "Lifesaving Boats" (Marakib El-Negah) and "Hayah Karima" (Decent Life), which seek to improve living conditions and create sustainable economic opportunities in communities vulnerable to irregular migration.

Backed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the partnership will focus on equipping children and youth with skills, expanding access to safe and sustainable opportunities, and strengthening community resilience.

UNICEF said providing protection for children goes hand in hand with creating opportunities that enable them to achieve their ambitions and contribute to their communities.

The partnership is part of broader efforts by the Egyptian government and UNICEF to promote sustainable development and reduce the factors that drive irregular migration by investing in education, skills development and community-based opportunities.
