Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and UNESCO’s Regional Office for Egypt and Sudan launched the country’s Artificial Intelligence Readiness Assessment Report on Monday in Cairo, marking a milestone for ethical and inclusive AI governance.
The one-day event, held at the Creativa Innovation Hub, brought together senior government officials, UN representatives, academics, and private sector leaders.
Keynote speakers included EU Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, Egypt’s Communications Minister Amr Talaat, and UNESCO officials.
The report, presented by UNESCO specialist Areej Atalla, outlined a framework to guide Egypt’s responsible AI development and highlighted opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
A high-level panel discussion featured experts from UNESCO, the International Telecommunication Union, the League of Arab States, and Egypt’s National Council for AI, alongside private sector innovators.
