Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy held talks on Tuesday with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El Enany on expanding cooperation in preserving Egypt's cultural heritage, protecting antiquities and promoting sustainable tourism.

The meeting, attended by Egypt's Ambassador to France Tarek Dahroug, took place during Fathy's official visit to Paris, where he is holding a series of meetings with tourism industry stakeholders, including leading French tour operators and airlines, to discuss increasing tourist arrivals from France.

The two sides reviewed ongoing cooperation between Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), emphasizing the importance of continuing joint efforts to safeguard antiquities, preserve cultural heritage and support collaborative projects in these fields.

They also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in capacity-building programs and initiatives promoting sustainable and cultural tourism as a driver of economic development while showcasing Egypt's rich civilization and its contribution to humanity's shared cultural heritage.

Fathy's visit to Paris is part of Egypt's broader efforts to deepen international partnerships in heritage preservation and boost tourism from key European markets.
