Alaa Farouk, The Egyptian Minister of Agriculture, and Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade held a meeting with Vitaliy Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine to discuss prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture, food security and agriculture.
The Minister of Agriculture said that areas of cooperation between the two countries could also include livestock, improving high-yield breeds, and exchanging expertise. He added: "We seek to benefit from every drop of water to achieve food security and confront climate change."
He pointed to the directives of the political leadership to pay attention to the agricultural sector and achieve added value through agricultural manufacturing and increasing agricultural exports, as Egyptian food products enjoy a good reputation and are in increasing demand from all countries.
"Farouk" also stressed the state's interest in the private sector and supporting local and foreign investors, welcoming the delegation of businessmen accompanying the Ukrainian minister and looking forward to holding direct meetings between investors in Egypt and Ukraine and increasing the prospects of cooperation to achieve the common interest of the two countries.
On his part, the minister of supply stressed that Egypt pays special attention to enhancing food security, and considers Ukraine a strategic partner in this field, as joint cooperation in importing wheat represents a fundamental pillar for the sustainability of supply chains and providing the needs of the Egyptian market, within the efforts of the Ministries of Supply and Agriculture and the "Future of Egypt" Authority to achieve food security, develop storage capabilities and enhance investment in logistics infrastructure.
He pointed out that Egypt seeks to diversify import sources and develop new investment partnerships with Ukraine in the fields of food storage and manufacturing, benefiting from modern technological developments in the agricultural sector and supply chains, which contributes to reducing losses and maximizing economic returns for both countries.
The Ukrainian minister expressed his happiness to visit Egypt and be present for the first time in the New Administrative Capital, and said that his country looks forward to increasing development prospects with Egypt as a pivotal country in the region and a gateway to the African continent.
"Koval" added that his country is ready to enhance cooperation in the field of food security and cooperation in the topics raised during the meeting, noting that the accompanying delegation of Ukrainian investors is ready to cooperate with Egyptian companies operating in the field of grains, meat and poultry in order to meet Egypt's needs for goods imported from abroad.
