Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed bilateral ties and regional de-escalation efforts during a phone call on Monday, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between Egypt and Turkey across various sectors in a way that serves the interests of both countries and supports economic development and prosperity.
The talks also addressed regional developments and ongoing efforts to contain tensions, including discussions surrounding negotiations between the United States and Iran.
Both sides stressed the importance of supporting diplomatic negotiations, describing dialogue and political solutions as the only viable path toward de-escalation and ending conflicts in the region.
The ministers expressed hope that all parties would adopt what they described as responsible positions and rely on diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully.
They also underlined that lasting regional security and stability could only be achieved through political solutions that preserve the interests and resources of the region’s peoples.
Relations between Egypt and Turkey have improved significantly in recent years after a prolonged period of strained ties, with both countries moving to expand political, economic and diplomatic cooperation.
