Egypt’s Cabinet has announced plans to suspend shop closing regulations during the week of Coptic Easter celebrations, in a move aimed at easing activity for citizens and businesses during the holiday period.

The decision was discussed during a meeting of the government’s Crisis Management Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, at the New Administrative Capital. The meeting reviewed the latest developments and repercussions of the ongoing US-Israeli–Iran conflict and its impact on Egypt’s economy and regional stability.

According to Cabinet spokesman Mohamed El-Homsani, the committee examined the global economic effects of the crisis, particularly rising energy prices and disruptions in supply chains, as well as the government’s ongoing efforts to mitigate these challenges.

Officials also reviewed measures to ensure the availability of essential goods and fuel supplies at stable prices, alongside coordination between relevant authorities to maintain strategic reserves sufficient for extended periods.

The meeting further addressed energy-saving measures and steps to secure raw materials critical for key industries, including pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, as part of broader efforts to safeguard domestic production.
