Egypt to receive new batch of Russian trains Saturday

The Egyptian National Railways will receive a new batch of Russian vehicles contracted with the Russian company "Transmashholding." The batch will arrive by sea through the port of Alexandria, where it includes 13 cars with dynamic ventilation (normal).

So far, 282 new cars with dynamic ventilation (normal) have arrived from the deal as part of the contract with Transmashholding to manufacture and supply 1,300 air-conditioned and regular train cars.

The railway authority receives monthly batches from the largest deal in the history of the authority, at the rate of 35 carriages per month. New Russian trains enter service every month, at an average of 3 trains per month.

The 1300 Russian deal includes 800 air-conditioned carriages (500 third-degree air-conditioned carriages, a new service being offered to passengers for the first time in the history of Egyptian Railways, 180-degree second air-conditioning, 90 air-conditioned first-class carriages, and 30 air-conditioned buffet cars) and 500 third-class vehicles with dynamic ventilation, at a cost of €1.0165 billion.
