Egypt to Receive 2nd Batch of J&J COVID-19 Vaccine in Days

Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed expressed that Egypt may receive the second batch of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) COVID-19 vaccine in a few days, local media reports indicated on Tuesday.

The second shipment will include 700,000 vaccine doses, in addition, the state has already received several shipments of COVID-19 vaccines such as Pfizer.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Health and Population announced, on its official page on “Facebook”, the first batch of Johnson & Johnson Coronavirus vaccine will arrive at Cairo Airport, Monday at dawn, with 261 doses.

Noteworthy, Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, adviser to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Egypt has overcome the peak of the third wave of the Coronavirus, and there is an increase in the number of cases currently by 15%.

In a statement on CBC satellite channel, he added that the number of cases could increase as the the fourth wave of the virus is hitting some countries of the world, “so we have to continue adhering to the precautionary measures against Corona.”

He pointed out that the state has relied, since the beginning of the new Coronavirus “Covid-19” pandemic, on persifying the sources of receiving vaccines, under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

In the same context, Egypt will start manufacturing various vaccines locally such as Sinovac and Sputnik V.
