Egypt to Fine Violators of COVID Measures as of Jan. 3

Egypt will impose immediate fines worth EGP 50 on violators of anti-coronavirus measures as of Sunday, January 3.

This came during Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli's videoconference meeting on Sunday with governors with the participation of Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharawi, Health Minister Hala Zayed, and Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar.

Madbouli urged the governors to announce names and addresses of all hospitals which treat the coronavirus patients, tasking them with linking each governorate's crisis room with the crises rooms of the Cabinet and Health Ministry.

Madbouli anew asserted the coronavirus crisis management committee's decisions which stipulated canceling all the New Year's celebrations and events along with closing any facility which holds any event.

Hotels should be restricted to the specified numbers at the weddings which only should be held in open-air areas.

As of Sunday, an immediate fine worth EGP 50 against violators of anti-coronavirus measures. Violators will be referred to the prosecution in case of nonpayment.

Immediate fine, amounting to EGP 4,000, on the violating cafes and restaurants will be applied as well as closing the facility for one week as of Sunday.

The premier stressed the importance of continuous follow up of the hospitals across Egypt to ensure the availability of all medical supplies.
