On Sunday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority revealed that Egypt would face unstable weather conditions that are expected to last until next Wednesday.
The Authority explained that today’s weather is marked by a substantial rise in temperatures across most parts of the country, accompanied by strong winds carrying sand and dust, which is leading to reduced horizontal visibility in some areas.
Several regions are expected to be affected by these conditions, including Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, northern Upper Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, the eastern coasts, the Gulf of Suez, central Sinai, and parts of the New Valley Governorate.
The Authority warns that the dust-laden winds may cause difficulties for drivers, especially on highways and open roads. Citizens are urged to avoid being in unsafe areas during periods of strong wind activity and to stay away from trees, billboards, and unstable structures.
The Authority also stressed the importance of keeping windows tightly closed indoors and wearing protective face masks—especially for those with allergies or sinus problems—to reduce exposure to dust. It emphasized the need to adhere to health and safety guidelines during such weather conditions.
As for the expected temperatures, Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta are forecasted to record temperatures between 32°C and 35°C. The northern coasts will see temperatures ranging from 24°C to 27°C. In northern Upper Egypt, temperatures are expected to range between 35°C and 38°C, while in southern Upper Egypt, they may rise to between 37°C and 40°C.
The Authority urged citizens to follow weather updates regularly through official media channels and to take necessary precautions to avoid any potential risks associated with the heatwave and the accompanying dust storm.
