Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Public Business Sector confirmed that the system for developing spinning and weaving companies includes cultivating 600,000 feddans of short-staple cotton in the future to meet the needs of new factories after development.
The Minister of Business Sector added, during today's tour of the city of Ghazl El Mahalla, to start the trial operation of the Ghazl 4 factory, that it is intended to expand the cultivation of short-staple cotton.
He explained that the ministry is cultivating areas in the eastern regions of Al-Ayounat and Toshka, and carrying out experiments of hybrid and advanced seeds to bring about the highest productivity.
He mentioned that with regard to short-staple cotton, our factories need most of Egypt's production of long-staple cotton.
He pointed out that the development plan includes the construction of 7 advanced mills, of which 4 square meters have been completed so far.
