Egypt's authorities and the South Sudan government have inked a deal to build a new Dam called the GRAND DAM in South Sudan territory.
In a phone interview with the Sada EL-Bald channel, Saturday, Mamdoh Anter, Head of the Nile Water Affairs Sector said that the "Egyptian South Sudanese bilateral relations have undergone significant evolution and today the two countries see themselves as development partners."
In this regard, he indicated that diplomatic relations between South Sudan and Egypt have been established for a long time.
The Egyptian official also emphasized that Egypt has been supporting many African countries in implementing development projects to achieve stability, solve drinking water problems, and protect the people from the dangers of floods.
"We have completed all the technical and economic studies and handed them over to the South Sudanese side," Anter told Sada ELbald.
"In the same context, Egypt has contributed to training technical employees from Nile Basin countries," he added.
"Egypt and South Sudan have also inked a protocol for technical cooperation in water resources, which includes a project preparing feasibility studies for the construction of the multi-purpose Wau Dam in South Sudan," he said.
Anter also said: "Recently, Egypt has founded several rainwater harvesting dams and underground drinking water stations to provide clean drinking water in remote areas far from water gathering spots."
