Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said on Wednesday that the mandatory implementation of the Advanced Cargo Information System (ACI) will start on October 1.
This came during the cabinet's weekly meeting headed by Mostafa Madbouly.
Maait reviewed the number of companies and exporters that have joined the system so far through CargoX platform or Window Project "Nafeza".
The minister highlighted the media campaign launched to promote the new system in a number of foreign media outlets, including The Economist, Financial Times, Forbes and AFP.
Advance Cargo Information (ACI) is an essential part of the "Nafeza" project as it will help in granting prior customs approval for import shipments by recording the basic data of the supplier, importer and imported goods through the website.
Depending on the customs risk regime, approvals will be granted. If approvals are obtained, the importer obtains the ACI customs initial registration number.
Electronic signature is a mandatory requirement to benefit from the single window system. Importers can create an electronic signature through one of the approved companies to issue the signature service.
