Egypt aims to produce 42% of its power from renewable resources by 2030, according to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).

Speaking to Extra News, Ghada El-Gendy, the Executive Director of the Arab Renewable Energy Company, said: "Egypt has pioneering experience in implementing a solar power plant in Uganda under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy."

In the same connection, she cited Egypt as one of the largest geographical locations in terms of solar brightness throughout the year.

Last year, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Electricity, Ayman Hamza, revealed that Egypt plans to become a pivotal center for the renewable energy exchange.

In this regard, Hamza said that all countries that have an electric interconnection with Egypt will benefit from the cooperation.

It's worth mentioning that Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus inked electricity linkage agreements in 2021.
