Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid held talks with Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Dennis Londo, to discuss strengthening economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries.
The meeting, attended by Tanzania’s Ambassador to Egypt Richard Mulayaba Makanzo and senior Egyptian trade officials, focused on expanding bilateral trade, logistics cooperation, livestock development, specialized exhibitions, trade missions, and cooperation in new city development.
Farid emphasized that Egypt is working to increase access for Egyptian exports to the Tanzanian market and other East African markets, noting that Tanzania represents an important economic partner for Egypt in the region.
The two sides discussed updating product lists and customs classification codes to introduce new goods and support the growth of bilateral trade in response to proposals from the business community.
The Egyptian minister revealed that Cairo is considering organizing an Egyptian trade and investment mission to Tanzania, including an exhibition showcasing Egyptian products to strengthen direct connections between businesses from both countries.
The talks also covered cooperation in the livestock sector, including meat production and processing, veterinary requirements, slaughterhouse approvals, and halal certification standards to facilitate trade flows.
Farid highlighted the importance of establishing logistics centers in Dar es Salaam to support the distribution of Egyptian products in Tanzania and neighboring markets, improve supply chains, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
He also expressed Egypt’s readiness to share its expertise in new city development, urban planning, industrial zones, and logistics infrastructure.
For his part, Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade welcomed deeper cooperation with Egypt, stressing his country’s interest in expanding economic and investment partnerships and increasing the participation of Egyptian companies in various sectors.
Londo confirmed Tanzania’s readiness to provide the necessary support and facilities to encourage joint projects and strengthen business ties between the two nations.
