Egypt hosted over the last two days, an important meeting between representatives of Sudan’s forces of freedom and change (FFC) and Sudan revolutionary front (SRF), ahead of signing the constitutional declaration.
“The meeting objective was to achieve peace in Sudan as a major issue of concern to all brotherly countries,” Egypt’s foreign ministry (FM) said in an official statement after the discussions.
“The participants exchanged views regarding various key issues,” the ministry added, noting that the results of the discussions will be presented before the leaders of FFC in Khartoum.
"Egypt affirms its full support to the brothers in Sudan, in order to achieve peace and stability,” the statement read.
The constitutional declaration is scheduled to be formally signed on August 17. It outlines the formation of a transitional civilian government and a parliament to govern for a three-year transition period. The agreement stipulates the formation of a joint civilian-military ruling body.
Noteworthy, on Friday, Sudan’s FFC and SRF delegations arrived in Cairo to discuss the Sudanese political developments. The head of SRF, Malik Agar, was keen to hail the Egyptian significant role in paving the way for a political agreement between FFC and SRF.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed during a meeting last month with the vice president of Sudan's Transitional Military Council General Mohamed Hassan Dagalo, on Cairo's strategic and constant support for Sudan stability and security.
