The Foreign Ministry summoned on Sunday Israel's Ambassador Amira Oron, asking her to convey a message to Israeli officials to reaffirm the need to respect and provide protection for Palestinian civilians.
Assistant Foreign Minister Nazih Al-Najari held a meeting with Oron, in which he stressed Egypt’s complete rejection of Israeli raid on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Najari emphasized that Israeli authorities must respect sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and provide the necessary protection for Palestinian civilians.
Oron was asked to convey a message to Israeli officials, stressing the need to provide protection for worshipers, allowing them to practice religious rituals without fears. Moreover, Israel has to fulfill its responsibilities for the security situation in Jerusalem.
Egypt condemned late Friday the Israeli act of storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacking Palestinian worshipers.
The ministry also reaffirmed that Israel need to stop any actions that violate the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy month of Ramadan, or the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of the city of Jerusalem.
Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry, expressed total rejection of any illegal doings aimed at undermining the legitimate and inalienable rights of the brotherly Palestinian people.
Hafez added that actions related to Israel’s settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian such as confiscating lands or displacing Palestinians are totally “unacceptable” as they violate international law and threaten the state’s security and stability.
