Egypt Strongly Deplores Al-Aqsa Mosque's Storming by Israeli Extremists

On Sunday, Egypt strongly condemned Al-Aqsa Mosque's storming by extremist groups under the protection of Israel's forces.

In a statement, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the step constitutes a new violation of the status quo and provocation of Arab and Muslim feelings.

He stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a purely Islamic endowment for Muslims, calling for the urgent stop of any violations targeting the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of the city of Jerusalem and all its holy sites.

The Egyptian diplomat urged the Israeli authorities to bear their responsibility in accordance with the rules of international law.

He went on to say that the act might also fuel the situation in Jerusalem City and some other areas.
