Egypt said on Tuesday it is closely monitoring the latest developments in Yemen, confirming that it is conducting intensive diplomatic contacts at the highest levels in an effort to de-escalate tensions and support regional stability.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Cairo is following the situation “with great interest” through ongoing communications with all relevant parties, stressing that these efforts are being carried out around the clock.
Egypt expressed full confidence in the wisdom of its allies in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, praising their approach to handling the current developments in Yemen. The statement highlighted the importance of safeguarding fraternal relations between the two countries and preserving Arab unity and shared destiny during what it described as a critical phase for Yemen and the wider region.
Cairo also voiced deep appreciation for the Saudi and Emirati leaderships’ “constructive and responsible” handling of the situation, underlining their commitment to Yemen’s stability, sovereignty, and the interests of the Yemeni people.
The foreign ministry reaffirmed that Egypt will spare no effort in maintaining continuous coordination with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the Yemeni side, and other regional and international stakeholders. These diplomatic efforts, it said, aim to reduce escalation and create conditions conducive to a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
According to the statement, such a settlement should meet the legitimate aspirations of the Yemeni people for a safe and prosperous future, while also contributing to security and stability across the region.
Egypt has repeatedly emphasized the need for political solutions to regional crises, particularly in Yemen, where years of conflict have resulted in severe humanitarian and economic challenges. Cairo’s latest remarks come amid heightened regional attention to developments in Yemen and ongoing diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
