Egypt has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to championing the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in light of recent attempts to address the Palestinian issue through forced displacement in Gaza.
In a compelling address delivered on Monday at an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council of Permanent Representatives, chaired by Morocco (the 160th session at the ministerial level), Ambassador Mohamed Mustafa Erfai, Egypt's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, addressed a range of Israeli actions and strategies aimed at undermining the rights of Palestinians. He also discussed the political, legal, diplomatic, and economic measures that the Arab League could undertake to bolster the Palestinian cause.
Ambassador Erfai underscored Egypt's steadfast dedication to upholding the Palestinian cause, firmly opposing any efforts to resolve the issue through the involuntary relocation of Gazans. He criticized the notion of characterizing such forced displacements as voluntary resettlement, highlighting the flimsiness and lack of credibility in such an argument. He stressed that even a child of five would find it unconvincing, given the barbaric and brutal acts of aggression that have devastated all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.
In response to false allegations leveled against Egypt in the International Court of Justice, Ambassador Erfai dismissed these claims as lacking credibility, emphasizing that no one believes or is deceived by such accusations. He pointed out that the world bears witness to the destruction that occurs day and night in the region. He reiterated that the resilient Palestinian people continue to stand their ground, setting an inspiring example of determination, pride, and defiance against injustice for both current and future generations.
Moreover, Ambassador Erfai stressed that the Palestinian issue transcends Arab concerns; it is a global matter that resonates with all individuals of conscience. It calls for the embrace of ethical values, demanding the rejection of oppression, injustice, and inhumane practices, which include blockades, starvation, violence, destruction, and land confiscation.
