Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry met today, Saturday, with Somalia's Foreign Minister Ahmed Madobe Nunow, according to Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting addressed various aspects of Egyptian-Somali relations and ways to enhance and develop them in different fields.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson explained that the discussions covered existing cooperation programs between the two countries in areas such as training, aviation, health, education, and culture.
The ministers expressed their happiness about the upcoming announcement of the opening of a direct flight line between the two countries in July, as well as the opening of a branch of Banque Misr in Somalia.
Furthermore, the meeting also touched on the regional situation in the Horn of Africa. The two foreign ministers exchanged consultations and coordination on the latest developments in this regard, emphasizing their commitment to supporting stability and peace and avoiding sources of tension and instability.
At the end of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed the special nature of Egyptian-Somali relations and their mutual desire to develop and strengthen them in the coming period.
