President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam witnessed on Saturday, at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, the signing of seven memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

The agreements reflect the growing partnership between Egypt and Singapore, and cover areas including maritime transport, economic cooperation, small and medium enterprises, social protection, healthcare, agriculture, and capacity building for government officials.

The first MoU focused on maritime transport, signed by Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Gen. Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, and the Singaporean Executive Director for Cooperation Projects.

A second MoU was signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, represented by Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Singapore’s Cooperation Agency, to enhance economic partnership.

The third agreement concerned support for small, medium, and micro enterprises as well as start-ups. It was signed by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, alongside Singapore’s representative.

A fourth MoU addressed cooperation in social protection, signed by Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsy, and Singapore’s Minister for Social and Family Development.

The healthcare sector was also a focus, with Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, who also oversees migration and Egyptian affairs abroad, signing an MoU with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Health.

In agriculture, Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, signed an agreement with Singapore’s Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory on cultivating Temasek rice in Egypt.

Finally, an MoU was signed between Egypt’s National Training Academy, represented by its Executive Director Dr. Sulafa Goueli, and Singapore’s Civil Service College, to advance training and capacity building for government officials.
