Health Minister Hala Zayed announced on Sunday sending a medical team to Chad within the presidential initiative to cure one million African from Hepatitis C (HCV).
Health Ministry Spokesman Khaled Megahed, said in a press statement, that the team inspected facilities in N'Djamena before starting its mission in the Chadian capital.
"N'Djamena includes 20 points to scan Chadian citizens for the detection of the virus. Another center has been equipped in the city of "Mundo" in southern Chad, as a first step to start the survey and treatment operations outside N'Djamena," he pointed out.
Megahed added that a meeting was held between Egyptian and Chadian officials, in the presence of Chadian Health Minister Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul and the representative of the Egyptian Embassy, Mohamed Orabi, to discuss plans to launch the initiative in the coming period.
The spokesman pointed out that the initiative has succeeded in examining 15,441 Chadians since October, adding that 715 patients diagnosed with hepatitis C have received the required treatment and medication.
On his part, Fadoul praised the Egyptian Ministry of Health for its continuous support to Chad's health sector.
