The 221st humanitarian aid convoy under the banner "Zad Al-Ezzah... From Egypt to Gaza" entered the Gaza Strip on Thursday, carrying food, medical supplies and other relief assistance as Egypt continued efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis facing the enclave's more than two million residents.
The convoy crossed through the Rafah land port sub-gate en route to the Karam Abu Salem crossing, where the aid will be transferred into Gaza after undergoing inspections by Israeli authorities, a source said.
The shipment includes food baskets, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned goods, medicines, personal care products, tents, clothing and petroleum products intended to support Palestinians affected by the conflict.
The latest convoy comes as Egypt maintains its role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to Gaza and coordinating relief efforts with regional and international partners.
Humanitarian access to the enclave has faced repeated disruptions since Israeli authorities closed crossings into Gaza on March 2, 2025, following the expiration of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement and the failure of negotiations to extend the truce.
The ceasefire later collapsed after renewed hostilities, including intensive Israeli airstrikes and ground operations across parts of Gaza. Restrictions on the entry of aid, fuel and reconstruction equipment further worsened humanitarian conditions in the territory.
Aid deliveries resumed under a new mechanism introduced in May 2025, despite concerns raised by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) over its compliance with established international procedures.
Efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States to broker a lasting ceasefire eventually led to an agreement between Israel and Hamas in October 2025. The second phase of the ceasefire entered into force in February 2026, allowing the return of displaced Palestinians and facilitating the evacuation of wounded civilians for treatment, including in Egyptian hospitals after the reopening of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing.
Egypt has continued to dispatch aid convoys to Gaza as part of broader regional efforts to support humanitarian relief and post-conflict recovery in the territory.
