Egypt Sends 209th Humanitarian Aid Convoy to Gaza

A new convoy of humanitarian aid trucks departed from the Rafah Border Crossing on Sunday en route to the Karem Abu Salem Crossing, as Egypt continued efforts to deliver assistance to Palestinians affected by the war in Gaza Strip.

The convoy, the 209th dispatched since the outbreak of the conflict, carried food supplies and humanitarian assistance intended for civilians facing worsening humanitarian conditions in the enclave.

Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) said the trucks were part of the "Zad Al-Ezza from Egypt to Gaza" initiative and were loaded with large quantities of relief supplies, including food parcels, flour, fresh bread, legumes, canned goods, medicines, hygiene products, tents, clothing and fuel.

The latest shipment comes as international aid agencies continue to warn of severe shortages of food, medicine and essential supplies for Gaza's population of more than two million people.

According to ERC, nearly 46,000 aid trucks carrying more than 995,000 tonnes of humanitarian assistance have entered Gaza since the start of the war. The deliveries have also included ambulances, fuel shipments and medical supplies.

Egypt has maintained a central role in facilitating humanitarian assistance to Gaza while continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at securing ceasefires and improving humanitarian access to the territory.
